How do you feel between kudos with a name and guest kudos? I know that a kudo is a kudo, but I can’t help but value more the ones that come with a user name. I recently wrote a smut fic and it’s was well received, but the amount of anonymous kudos is much greater than usual. Do people log out to leave kudos on smut?

I don’t know that I value them differently, but I do appreciate having a name that I can associate to the kudos. When I see a guest kudos on 5 different works, I like to think it’s the same person investigating my Archive. But when there’s a name there, then I know for sure - and that gives me a warm glow in my chest and a big smile on my face :)

As for logging out to kudos smut, some people do yes. Especially if they use the same name on AO3 that they use elsewhere online. They don’t want people from Twitter or Instagram finding them on AO3 and seeing that they read smut / exactly what kind of smut they read.

It never occurred to me that people might log out to kudos. When I kudos as a guest, it’s because I’m either reading on my phone and can’t deal with name/password on the tiny little keyboard, or I’m reading on something other than my normal computer and can’t log in.
