i’m just going to go ahead and say it: avengers endgame valued romantic love over familial and platonic and it Shows
examples:
steve and peggy: their love story was tragic, but they had both been shown to have moved on. by 2024, steve had spent 12 years in the future. peggy was not the one he should have been spent the entire movie mourning. he had lost bucky. sam. wanda and vision, basically his entire team. peggy should have been the last thing on his mind. when his two best friends in the entire world were returned to him, he shouldn’t of had to turn to the past for “happiness” or a “life”
clint and laura: when natasha and clint were fighting on vormir, natasha did mention the kids, but there was an unspoken emphasis on laura (who clint had gone looking for in the house when he tested the suit). natasha may not have had a husband or kids, but the avengers were her family. she spent five years keeping tabs on earth when no one else would. but in comparison to clint’s wife and kids at home, her life was suddenly seen as having lesser value
scott lang and hope: FAMILY played a huge role in the antman films. scott has a best friend named luis who he calls whenever the smallest thing goes wrong, two close friends named kurt and dave, and cassie has two other wonderful parents named jim and maggie paxton. did we hear one mention of them? no. when scott is talking to tony, he only talks about losing “her”, and at the end its scott, cassie, and hope watching fireworks together instead of the whole gang who would have been overjoyed to be reunited
